Don’t just take our word for it

Every belt and strap is handwoven to order by Maya artisans in Guatemala. Here’s what it’s like to live with one — straight from the people who wear them every day.

A+

Five stars. No hesitation.
These two belts from Antigua Threads—the Coba and the Aqua Tera—showed up and the first thing that hit me was the leather. That smell. Not the chemical poison they pump into most factory belts. Real hide. Clean. Rich. The leather smelled the way good hide does when it has been worked right. It felt soft under the fingers yet solid. No cheap give. The kind of scent that tells you someone actually gave a damn about the material before they started cutting it.

You pick them up and the feel is immediate. Soft where it needs to be, solid where it counts. No flimsy junk that’ll stretch out and die after a month of wear. The Coba sits there with its dark field and that clean white pattern, the stitching tight as a drum. The Aqua Tera with its blue lines running true, no wobble, no cheap embroidery that frays the second you look at it sideways. Brass buckles that actually feel like they were made to last, not stamped out by the thousand in some godforsaken industrial park.

This is the kind of work you respect. Hands that know leather. People who still have passion about their craft in a world that mostly doesn’t. I’ll wear the hell out of both of them.
